As of Spring 2014, we have begun a major redesign of our curriculum approach for all courses offered in the Foundational Learning department. Our process will involve ongoing development of courses, learning activities, assessments, and supports for learners pursuing various academic and workplace pathways in a variety of face-to-face and online delivery modes.

Overview of Current Objectives
  • Develop, implement, and monitor a strategy for curriculum development and curriculum renewal for CEFL

  • Establish team leads to research and guide engagement in curriculum development

  • Create timelines and priorities for curriculum projects

  • Develop an assessment strategy including exams and other forms of assessment

  • Create media development strategy.

  • Develop a strategy and process to engage CEFL faculty in the broader use of technology to achieve curriculum objectives; this will be embedded within a digital literacy framework

  • Compliance to have all courses, curriculum, media, etc. available to instructors in D2L

  • Working with the Centre for Excellence in English Language Learning, establish entry-level requirements for Advanced Transition (AT) Program students into upgrading courses

  • Become recognized leaders in curriculum development for adult learners in foundational learning

  • Promote and share proven strategies, models, and processes in curriculum development.
