This workshop forms part one of the required workshops for completion of the Educational Technology outcome category for the Media Developer (Video) certificate.  As with every workshop, this workshop will take you through a series of demonstrations followed by practical exercises.  At the end of the workshop, you will be given the required activity to complete outside and the workshop and be submitted to the presenter for review and feedback.

The workshop will cover the first three goals of the Educational Technology outcome category.  An media developer (video) will be able to:

  • [GOAL 1] record a PowerPoint Presentation using Camtasia Studio.
  • [GOAL 2] edit the recording in Camtasia Studio, adding basic elements and adjusting audio.
  • [GOAL 3] produce the recording and publish on a YouTube Channel..

Over the course of the workshop, you will be engaged in a number of practical and thought provoking activities. Following a brief overview, you may stay in the lab or return to your own workstation.  Once there, you will visit this page to watch a series of recorded demonstrations outlining the basics of how to record, edit and produce an instructional video using PowerPoint and Camtasia Studio.  For each demonstration, you will be given a brief exercise so that you can attempt each step.  The presenter and volunteers will be circulating to provide assistance.

After the workshop, on your own time, you will complete the workshop activity. For this activity, you will record, edit and produce a PowerPoint presentation from your subject-area using Camtasia Studio.  You will post this on your own YouTube channel and share it with the presenter (and colleagues).  Be sure to complete and submit the workshop activity by May 17, 2013 to receive feedback for this round.  This workshop will have future offerings..
