This workshop forms part one of the required workshops for completion of the Educational Technology outcome category for the Media Presenter certificate.  As with every workshop, this workshop will take you through a series of demonstrations followed by practical exercises.  At the end of the workshop, you will be given the required activity to complete outside and the workshop and be submitted to the presenters for review and feedback.

The workshop will cover the three goals of the Educational Technology outcome category.  A media presenter will be able to:

  • [GOAL 1] Understand the technological features of using PowerPoint effectively in a face-to-face classroom
  • [GOAL 2] Understand the technological features of using PowerPoint effectively in an online class using Adobe Connect
  • [GOAL 3] Troubleshoot common technology problems related to presenting with PowerPoint

Over the course of the workshop, you will be engaged in a number of practical and thought provoking activities. Following a demonstration, you will modify and present a ready-made PowerPoint presentation in small groups in a face-to-face setting. After another demonstration, you will modify and present a ready-made PowerPoint presentation in small groups using Adobe Connect's breakout room feature. For each demonstration, you will have the opportunity to follow along.  More importantly, you will be able to use PowerPoint features such as the slide sorter for organizing and the pointer/pen for directing and annotating while presenting; additionally, you will be able to use Adobe Connect features such as setting learners as presenters, sharing files, and creating polls.

To finish the requirements for this workshop, be sure to complete and submit the workshop activity by December 1, 2012.
